Ostach launches Ukrainian Culture Festival in Beirut from May 8 to May 23, 2019
Ukrainian Ambassador to Lebanon, Ihor Ostach, on Monday launched at a press conference at the Press Club the Ukrainian Culture Festival in Beirut, under the patronage of Minister of Culture Dr. Mohammad Daoud Daoud, represented by the Director General of the Ministry Sarkis Khoury.
The press conference took place in the presence of the Consul of Ukraine in Lebanon, Andrii Korniichuk.
The Festival of Ukrainian Culture in Lebanon will be taking place in different Lebanese regions between May 8 and May 23, 2019.
Following the national anthem and a welcome speech by Media host Rita Wakim Hajj, Ambassador Ostach announced the festival events and itinerary, which will begin on Wednesday, May 8, at the ALBA University and will last for two weeks in different Lebanese regions, including Beirut, Zahle, Sidon, Tripoli, Jbeil and the Casino du Liban.
The Ukrainian Culture Festival features several art performances, including musical concerts, painting exhibitions and Ukrainian cuisine.
In his delivered word, Khoury said that the Festival constitutes a step towards bolstering cultural relations between Lebanon and Ukraine, deeming Lebanese-Ukrainian relations as "historic."
"This is reflected in the presence of a large Lebanese community in Ukraine and the presence of a Ukrainian community in Lebanon... the matter that contributes to bolstering relations between the two countries in the various domains," Khoury maintained.
Khoury also underlined the Ministry's support for this cultural festival, to be added to the record of mutual cultural activities between the two countries.
He also wished the Festival success, thanking the Ukrainian Embassy for its efforts to enhance relations between Lebanon and Ukraine and to maintain the ties of friendship between the two countries.
